September 2007 Students of the Month

OWATONNA—Amy Chatelaine, daughter of Dave and Kathy Chatelaine, and Nicholas Allard, son of David and Jane Allard, are the Owatonna Rotary Club’s Students of the Month for September.

 

Ellen Miller, daughter of Doug and Vicki Miller. Is the Rotary Club’s Top Team Student for the month.

 

All three students are seniors at Owatonna High School.

 

Chatelaine is a member of the National Honor Society.  She is captain of the cross country team, having run cross country for six years.  She plays cello in the school symphony orchestra and pit orchestra and sings in the concert choir and with the Carolers.  She is also a captain of the speech team.  She has performed with the Owatonna Little Theatre and the Faribault theatre.  In addition, she plays in several ensembles at Trinity Lutheran Church, where she also takes part in Vacation Bible School and peer ministry.

 

In spring 2007. she was the Rotary Club’s sponsored student to Camp RYLA.  She is employed at Blast Softserve and teaches private cello lessons.  For college, she is considering St. Olaf, possibly taking a pre-med curriculum.

 

Allard is a National Honor Society member.  He runs cross country and has played junior varsity soccer.  He is a member of the jazz band, pep band, Carolers, and pit orchestra.

At Bethel Church, he performs with the church drama team and has been a member of the church Vermillion Mission Team.  He does volunteer work as a mover, painter, and landscaper.

 

Allard is employed at HyVee Grocery.  For college, he is headed toward Bethel, intending to major in biology.

 

Miller is a member of the National Honor Society.  She has taken part in Link Crew and SHOC (Students Helping Others Choose) and has served on the prom committee.  She is a four-year member of Job’s Daughters and is currently Senior Princess.  At Trinity Lutheran Church she is youth representative on the women’s ministry, serves as a peer minister, is a retreat leader, and is a Sunday School teacher.

 

For college, she is considering Gustavus Adolphus, Winona State, and the University of Minnesota, studying psychology and nursing.  She is employed by Prairie Ridge Orthodontics and Eddie Bauer.

 

All three students attend weekly Rotary Club luncheons at the Holiday Inn and will receive special recognition at the September 24 luncheon.
