December Students of the Month 2006

OWATONNA—Drew Lundberg, son of Dave and Deb Lundberg, and Caitlin Kasper, daughter of Peter and Karen Kasper, are the Owatonna Rotary Club’s Students of the Month for December.
Cassy Gerold, daughter of Jaime Gerold of Owatonna and Mary Engstrom of Pine River, is the Rotary Club’s Top Team Student for December. All three students are seniors at Owatonna High School.
Lundberg is a four-year participant in varsity football, basketball, and track. He has been named captain for all three teams. In football and basketball especially, he has set many records and received numerous awards. He was a member of the 43 Hoops Basketball Team and Southern Minnesota—Michigan Basketball Team that went to Hawaii in 2005. In addition, Lundberg has sung in the Choir for three years and has been both a Peer Helper and Link Crew Leader. He was Josten’s Junior Boy Athlete of the Year and a member of the Tops Homecoming Royalty.
For college, Lundberg will be attending Northern Iowa University on a basketball scholarship, majoring in criminology.
Kasper is a three-year member of the FFA, where she has held chapter and regional offices. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and was on the Speech Team for two years. In addition, she has been a Peer Helper and a Link Crew Leader. She has been very active in 4-H and Girl Scouts, where she is working toward her Gold Award. She is the 2006 Minnesota Jersey Queen and a member of the Dairy Judging Team that won State and that will be going to Scotland in June 2007 for international competition.
For college, Kasper is considering South Dakota State University and the University of Minnesota, with a major in either agricultural education or agricultural business.
Gerold is a three-year member of the OHS Speech Team and currently serves as captain. She also played soccer. At the United Methodist Church, she has participated in various youth groups, including a youth leadership team raising funds for a mission. She is currently employed at the Uber Glove Company.
For college, Gerold is considering Winona State, the University of Minnesota at Duluth, and St. Thomas, expecting to major in psychology.
All three students have attended weekly Rotary Club luncheons at the Holiday Inn and received special recognition at the Dec. 18 meeting.
