October Students of the Month 2006

OWATONNA—Danika King, daughter of Timothy and Jeana King, and Shana Holmes, daughter of Phil and Lori Holmes, are the Owatonna Rotary Club’s Students of the Month for October.
Amanda Invaldson, daughter of Jon and Michelle Ingvaldson, is the Rotary Club’s Top Team Student for October.
All three students are seniors at Owatonna High School.
King is a member of the National Honor Society. She has played tennis at OHS for four years and is a co-captain of the team this year. She also has played the violin in the school orchestra for four years. In addition, she participates in Knowledge Bowl, SHOC (Students Helping Others Choose), Peer Helpers, and Key Club, where she serves as secretary.
At Bethel Baptist Church, King is a drama team and youth group member. She is employed at Cashwise. For college, she is considering Wheaton College, Bethel, and Northwestern, with a possible major in history.
Holmes is a National Honor Society member, currently serving the organization as secretary-treasurer. She has played tennis for three years, is a four-year veteran of Mock Trial, and participates in SHOC, Link Crew, Peer Helpers, and Key Club. She has also been a Big Sister.
At Bethel Baptist Church, Holmes is a nursery assistant and has taken part in a mission trip to Vermillion, South Dakota. She is employed at the law firm of Dow, Einhaus, Mattison, and Carver. For college, she is considering Northwestern University, most likely majoring in political science/international studies.
Ingvaldson has been a school wrestling manager, trainer, and statistician for five years. She played viola in the school orchestra for three years. She has also mentored elementary school students in viola. In addition, she has participated in fast-pitch softball. She is employed at both Famous Dave’s and Target Pharmacy, where she is doing her Top Team internship.
For college, Ingvaldson is considering the University of Wisconsin (Madison), the University of Minnesota at Duluth, and Gustavus Adolphus, emphasizing pre-pharmacy.
All three students attend weekly Rotary Club luncheons at the Holiday Inn and will receive special recognition at the October 30 meeting.
