January Students of the Month 2006

OWATONNA—Emily Greiner, daughter of Timothy and Linda Greiner, and Zachary Elmhorst, son of Brady and Patti Elmhorst, are the Owatonna Rotary Club’s Students of the Month for January. Both are seniors at Owatonna Christian School.
Valerie Brooks, daughter of Michael and Sandy Brooks, is the Rotary Club’s Top Team Student for January. Valerie is a senior at Owatonna High School.
Greiner has been active in basketball, volleyball, and softball as well as school ensemble, band, Art Club, and Honor Society. She currently serves as Senior Class Treasurer. She sings in choir at Grace Baptist Church and plays trombone in the church orchestra. She has assisted at Shepherd’s Home in Wisconsin, served as a counselor at Bible Camp, and been to Argentina for mission work. She is currently employed at Culver’s.
For college, she plans to attend Maranatha Baptist Bible College in Watertown, Wisconsin, intending to study nursing.
Elmhorst participates in soccer, basketball, and baseball. He has done mission work in Argentina, worked in the Gospel Hill Christian Camp for inner-city youth, and engaged in mission activity in Argentina. At Grace Baptist Church, he is involved in both youth and ushering ministries.
Elmhorst intends to enroll at Pillsbury Baptist Bible College, majoring in business administration.
Brooks is a four-year member of the OHS concert choir, a member of DECA (a business club), a member of the Carolers, and has participated in track and field (shot and discus), lacrosse, and hockey. At Trinity Lutheran Church, she has served three years on the Music Commission. She is employed at Kottke Jewelers.
For post-secondary education, she plans to attend Le Cordon Bleu, in Minneapolis, where she will study baking and patisserie.
All three students attend Rotary Club weekly luncheons at the Holiday Inn and will receive special recognition at the Jan. 30 meeting.
