OWATONNA—Ally Pelton, daughter of Tim and Cindy Pelton, and Ashley Getting, daughter of Les and Jackie Getting, are the Owatonna Noon Rotary Club’s Students of the Month for February.
Krista Lau, daughter of Rollin and Connie Lau, is the Rotary Club’s Top Team Student for February.
All three are seniors at Owatonna High School.
Pelton is a member of the National Honor Society and Key Club. She is editor of the school yearbook and is a co-editor of “Chimera,” the school literary magazine. She has participated in numerous musical theatre presentations during her years at OHS. In the community, she has been a volunteer for the Special Education Summer School and the PEO Dairy Stand at the Fair. At Trinity Lutheran Church, she has been a teacher at Vacation Bible School, a student director and song leader for several choirs, and a Peer Ministry Leader. She has also been active in Teens Encounter Christ. She is currently employed at J&J Softserve.
For college, Pelton will attend Gustavus Adolphus, majoring in communication studies.
Getting is a National Honors Society member, a four-year participant in Mock Trial, a Dinner Ensemble member (first violin), and an All-State Orchestra performer. She has also taken part in numerous musical theatre performances. In the community, she has been a Big Sister for two years. At St. John Lutheran Church, she is a Cornerstone Worship participant and has taken part in mission trips to Michigan, West Virginia, and Montana. She is employed at the Owatonna Public Library.
For college, Getting is considering Harvard, Georgetown, George Washington, Sara Lawrence, and Concordia, expecting to major in political science and international relations.
Lau has served on the Prom Committee at OHS. In her church, Redeemer Lutheran, she participates in Cradle Roll, a care program for infants. She is employed at 43rd Street Pub and Grill.
For college, Lau expects to attend either the University of Wisconsin at Stout or Winona State University.
All three students attend Rotary Club weekly luncheons at the Holiday Inn and will receive special recognition at the Feb. 27 meeting.
