December Students of the Month

OWATONNA—Alex Paffrath, daughter of Ted and Marcia Paffrath, and Kristy Mussman, daughter of Mike and Julie Mussman, are the Owatonna Rotary Club’s Students of the Month for December.

Missy McGraw, daughter of Larry and Traci McGraw, is the Rotary Club’s Top Team Student for December.

All three are seniors at Owatonna High School.

Paffrath has played varsity soccer for five years and varsity hockey for three years.  She is a member of the National Honor Society, has sung in choir for four years, and has served on the prom committee.  She is a three-year participant in Young Life.  She has played club soccer for both Lakeville and Wayzata, serving as captain for each team.  She has been a volunteer coach for both the Owatonna Figure Skating Club and the Owatonna Soccer Association.  For college, she plans to attend Drake University in Des Moines, majoring in chemistry, with an emphasis on pre-pharmacy.

Mussman has played volleyball, basketball, and fast pitch softball at OHS.  She is a member of the FFA, National Honor Society, Key Club, dinner ensemble, and school symphony orchestra, where she is principal violist.  She has also served with Link Crew.

For two years, she was Jr. Dairy Ambassador, where she assumed a lead teaching role.  In her church, she has been a Sunday school teacher and Youth Group participant.  She is currently employed at Mills Fleet Farm and by Owatonna Park and Recreation, where she coaches girls junior high basketball.  Mussman intends to matriculate at the University of Minnesota, majoring in business management.

McGraw has been captain of the varsity football cheerleading squad and is a cheerleader for varsity boys hockey.  She has participated in varsity competition cheerleading and is vice president of DECA/BPA, a student business club.  She works with Big Brothers/Big Sisters.  She is currently employed at the United Prairie Bank and at Southpark Lanes.  Mussman will graduate in January and will start attending Riverland College.  In fall, 2006, she intends to enroll at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, majoring in finance.

All three students attend Rotary Club weekly luncheons at the Holiday Inn and will receive special recognition at the December 19 meeting.
